The Ice Cutter

LaBonte had a lot of fun drawing the figures in this Spring Lake, NJ painting. The horse and sleigh are out to harvest ice. Lake House, left background, was one of four buildings dismantled and brought to Spring Lake from the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. It's long gone, but two of the four imports remain as residences. James Sexton's Funeral Home, at the right, is now the Chateau Inn.
