Dick LaBonté Anchor & Palette Gallery

Spring Lake, 1892

The original painting by Dick LaBonté was commissioned for the Spring Lake Centennial in 1992. The Hewitt-Wellington Hotel, left, is still there, and the Post Office is now a residence elsewhere in town. The artist wasn’t certain that people really flew in hot-air balloons so near to the ocean in 1892, but he added them into the scene for color anyway.
