Dick LaBonté Anchor & Palette Gallery

Sandcastles

In order to paint his Victorian scenes, artist Dick LaBonte studied hundreds of architectural drawings from his vast collection of historical books. The cottages here (and that's what they would have been called) were adapted from townhouses in a book of 19th century architectural drawings. He felt they fitted that imperious robber baron chomping his cigar -- master of all he surveys.
