Ocean View, 1892

In the 1890s, Ocean View House advertised that Bay Head's "health-giving air is an excellent tonic for sufferers from nervous troubles." The hotel was on the outskirts of town, with only one house nearby. Painted red and owned by an undertaker, it was known as "the little red morgue by the sea." True or not, the hotel and the house had an unobstructed view of the ocean. The hotel was on Main Avenue and North Street.
