July Fourth, 1909In the early 1900s the second yacht club building was built at a cost of appx $2400. A real beauty was this shingled building with its moss green roof. It was stained in creosote and trimmed in white. The first floor had a porch and two enclosed rooms. A staircase led to an open second floor. In 1909 it was announced that thanks to dredging in 1908 leading to the Inland Waterway channel between Cape May and Bay Head, the marshes around the club were filled and four tennis courts would be completed by July 3rd. This scene depicts a celebration of the Grand Opening or at least how it may have been on July 4, 1909. Image size: 8x14. Giclee print. Open edition. Unsigned. $100 A small print of this is available in gallery stores only. It is approximately 7 x 10 inches. It is an offset print and sells for $35.
